Scene?

Dubstep does not have its own set of rules. Being a genre that is a result of elements from other genres makes it difficult to pinpoint an exact "member" of the scene. If dubstep had a particular scene it could relate to it would be the Rave Scene.

The rave scene has a base starting in the 1960's with the hippie movement. The hippies lived their lives off of the idea that everyone can live together in perfect harmony with the values of peace, love, unity, a

nd respect ingrained in every part of their life. These values are referred in present day as the acronym PLUR or PLURR (the extra R representing Responsibility in response to the drug abuse that could occur at raves). The creation of the acronym PLURR stems back to the birth of the rave with the hippies. Drugs such as ecstasy, LSD, and methamphetamines have created a stir in the community about what goes on in the raves.

At the raves the venues are usually a club but can happen in various places. Locally the biggest rave that occurs is during the Summer at the water park called LoveFest. In the early 1990's the raves would happen once a month (usually around the time of the full moon) in or around Diamond Head park. Venues like Pipeline Cafe (before they closed) and Oceans w

ould host concerts and other dances and on special nights would have raves. Asylum is one of the most prevalent clubs on Oahu that currently houses raves. Outdoor raves recall images of the hippie movements and how the festivities occurred out in the open, while the indoor club venues give a second life to the attendees who might want to have this part of their life separate from their daytime life.

A big attraction to raves are the light shows. Created with colorful LED lights the light shows are used to draw attendees in and keep them there. Light shows are also created by the dancers using glow sticks, mini LED lights, and possibly gloves with LED lights embedded into the fingertips. The attendees then proceed to dance with the flow of the music allowing their hands in order to create a display of lights for themselves or their friends, this can also be called glowsticking or glowstringing.
